At the recent parent contact we spoke about the pupils having a break during the holiday but also of the importance of keeping skills sharp. I have put together some ideas for this. Any time spent reading, (use the library, internet, e-readers etc) writing – from shopping lists to diaries, counting- a running total as you go round the supermarket, multiplication tables, judging how long it will take to walk/drive to a destination reinforces the work we have been doing in school.
These links take your child to games sites which I checked today (24.3.16) and all contain really good interactive games. Fitting one or two of these into ‘games time’ will give you child a head start on the next term.
Specific activities related to maths –
This one will really help with fractions and percentages http://www.matematicasdivertidas.com/Zonaflash/juegosflash/fractionpercentage.swf
http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/EquivFractionFinder/ experiment with adding columns and rows.
As well as sites bookmarked from homework activities
English and Literacy – nouns and adjectives
any of the games on this page
and for science
Above all have fun!
See you all on April 11th rested, fresh and ready for the new term.
